This contest was quite unique for our station - we hosted a group of young or beginner amateurs to give them a chance to try a big HF contest from a station with decent equipment. We chose the Multi-Two category and the OL5G contest call. The main team was made up of male and female operators from 8 to 21 years old, with a few hours of the contest being broadcast by their senior supervisors. A total of 15 operators took turns, and for most of them it was their first experience with an HF contest. The whole event was sponsored by the Czech Radio Club headed by its secretary Liba OK1LYL.
In the week before the contest I cleared out the hamshack room and created two operating positions and a rest area. I also set up antenna switching with 2x Station Master, 2x10 switch and automatic band filters for each radio. On Friday after lunch, "support team" gathered on site to install the remaining equipment - many thanks to Vasek OK6RA who, although not participating in the contest, came to help with IT and loaned us some equipment. We used SunSDR MB1, FT-1000MP Mark V, 2x Acom 1000. After wiring and getting the network up and running, we set up the tables for PA tuning - and immediately there was a problem, because I have been running only LP for the last 8 years. After finishing the tuning, we found that we were without internet. The local provider's router, which is integrated into the WiFi dish (transceiver) for the internet connection, stopped working. Thanks to Vasek, after about an hour we managed to get everything back up and running, including connecting the whole network to the internet via a mobile phone hotspot. This turned out to be a completely reliable and fast enough solution, even for IP TV. Apart from this issue, there was no other problem - on the contrary, we were all very pleasantly surprised that the two stations did not interfere at all - even in a situation where both stations were using the same 4-bander, which has separate leads for 40m and 20-15-10m!
Towards evening the "kids" started to arrive and around 20:00Z we had a familiarisation meeting where we explained what was going on, how everything worked and other related rules. The head of the event, Honza OK1JD, prepared a schedule of operators - pairs always took turns at each radio (except for those who already have more experience and can handle the traffic independently).
Our house is not big enough to accommodate more people, so those who didn't operate slept in a nearby monastery, kindly made available by a local parishioner. The monastery is not heated and the temperature inside was about 10° C - but since everyone knew this in advance, they dressed well and slept in warm sleeping bags. Transportation of children between the monastery and the station was provided by Vlada OK2ZKR and Liba OK1LYL.
During the actual contest we shared great positive energy - the joy of operating and we adults were amazed how the beginners had improved their operating skills in just one weekend. According to the information available :-) everyone enjoyed the event, which I consider a goal accomplished. More than 3000 QSOs made is much more than we expected.
Throughout the contest Jana OK3FLY (my XYL) and our daughters Laura (age 11) and Roza (age 8) took care of the contesters and even baked some great cakes for the participants, for which we owe them a huge thanks!
And finally, I'd like to add that we didn't destroy the Wifi transceiver - the provider's technician stated on Monday that it was reset to factory settings. We replaced the connection cables with shielded ones, shortened them to the minimum and plugged in ferrites. Hopefully that will be enough :-)

Tento závod byl pro naší stanici zcela unikátní - hostili jsme skupinu mladých či začínajících radioamatérů, abychom jim dali možnost vyzkoušet si velký KV závod ze stanice se slušným vybavením. Zvolili jsme kategorie Multi-Two pod značkou OL5G. Hlavní tým tvořili operátoři a operátorky od 8 do 21 let, několik hodin závodu vysílal i jejich starší dozor. Celkem se vystřídalo 15 operátorů, přičemž pro většinu z nich to byla první zkušenost se závodem na KV. Celou akci zaštiťoval Český Radioklub v čele s tajemnicí Líbou OK1LYL. V týdnu před závodem jsem vyklidil místnost s hamshackem a vytvořil v ní dvě pracoviště a prostor pro odpočinek. Také jsem zprovoznil přepínání antén pomocí 2x Station Master, přepínače 2x10 a ke každému rádiu automaticky přepínané pásmové filtry. V pátek po obědě jsme se jako „podpůrný tým“ sešli na místě, abychom nainstalovali zbývající techniku – moc děkujeme Vaškovi OK6RA, který se sice závodu neúčastnil, ale přijel pomoci s IT a zapůjčil nám některou techniku. Používali jsme SunSDR MB1, FT-1000MP Mark V, 2x Acom 1000. Po zapojení a zprovoznění sítě jsme vytvořili tabulky pro přelaďování PA – a hned nastal problém, protože posledních 8 let provozuji jen LP. Po ukončení ladění jsme zjistili, že jsme bez internetu. Přestal fungovat router místního providera, který je integrovaný do WiFi paraboly (transceiveru) pro internetové připojení. Díky Vaškovi se nám asi po hodině povedlo vše zprovoznit, a to včetně připojení celé sítě do internetu přes hotspot v mobilním telefonu – to se nakonec ukázalo jako zcela spolehlivé a dostatečně rychlé řešení, a to i pro IP TV. Kromě tohoto problému se žádný jiný nevyskytl – naopak jsme byli všichni velmi mile překvapeni, že se obě stanice vůbec nerušily – a to dokonce ani v situaci, kdy obě stanice používaly stejný 4-bander, který má samostatný svod na 40m a 20-15-10m! K večeru se začaly sjíždět „děti“ a kolem 20:00Z jsme měli seznamovací meeting, kde jsme si vysvětlili, o co vlastně jde, jak všechno funguje a další související pravidla. Šéf akce Honza OK1JD připravil rozpis operátorů – u každého rádia se střídaly vždy dvojice (kromě těch, co už mají více zkušeností a zvládnou provoz samostatně). Náš dům není dostatečně velký pro ubytování více lidí, takže ten, kdo nevysílal, přespával v nedalekém klášteře, který nám laskavě zpřístupnil místní farník. Klášter není vytápěný a uvnitř byla teplota kolem 10° C – ale protože to všichni věděli předem, dobře se oblékli a v teplých spacácích i vyspali. Dopravu dětí mezi klášterem a vysílacím QTH zajišťoval Vláďa OK2ZKR a Líba OK1LYL. Během vlastního závodu jsme sdíleli skvělou pozitivní energii – radost z provozu a my dospělí jsme navíc žasli, jak se začátečníci za jediný víkend posunuli v operátorské zručnosti. Podle dostupných informací :-) se akce všem moc líbila, což považuji za splněný cíl. Více jak 3000 navázaných QSO je mnohem více, než jsme čekali. Po celou dobu závodu o závodníky pečovaly Jana OK3FLY (moje XYL) s dcerami Laurou (11) a Rozárkou (8), které pro účastníky dokonce napekly několik skvělých dortů, za což jim patří obrovský dík! A na závěr dodám, že Wifi transceiver jsme nezničili – technik providera v pondělí konstatoval, že se resetoval do továrního nastavení. Vyměnili jsme připojovací kabely za stíněné, zkrátili na minimum a nacvakali ferity. Snad to bude stačit :-)
